Canada’s Target for Electric Vehicles

  • 10% of all new vehicles to be zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) by 2025
  • 30% by 2030
  • 100% by 2040

Electric Cars in Condominiums

Condos must be ready to accommodate all-electric vehicles by 2035

Currently, newly built condos must have 20% of all spaces able to accommodate some form of Electrical Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) that are in compliance with the Act.

Condos that are not newly built 

  • the Condo Corp can “unilaterally” install an electric charging station or the infrastructure on a 60-day notice to owners if certain conditions are met
  • the Individual Owner must apply in writing to the Condo Corp for such installation & pay all costs & the corporation must cooperate & provide any required information, permission, or authorization required by the owner to put together the application to the relevant authorities
