• Black Friday can offer good deals “major sale times”
• Boxing Day – “major sale time” December 26 – at times better discounts than Black Friday
• Refrigerators: new models appear in the Spring so sales occur in May, perhaps to coincide with Mother’s Day
• Major Appliances: September & October
• Air-Conditioners & Gas Grills: in cooler months, October through to February
• January: older models to be cleared to make way for newer models (selection could be limited)
• Holiday week-ends & Statutory Holidays

Buying Online: What to Consider

• Cost of delivery when not included
• Cost of installation when not included
• Take a test run: visit the store to find out if easy to operate
• Check return policy
• Read manufacturer’s warranty carefully
• Disposal of appliance when buying: many online outlets won’t dispose so factor in this cost
• Check out appliance deals using different browsers; sometimes there may be better discounts that way

• Refurbished appliances: some stores offer these for a good discount; normally they are tested to make sure they are working
• Scratches Sell: some retailers sell scratched or dented models that are working at good discounts
• Liquidation Sales: companies or retailers going out of business may have overstocked items which are discounted
